The Wharncliffe Pocket knife is a type of knife that is very good at cutting on the flat surface cause of the straight edge they have. Also, the very pointy tip of the end of the long straight edge is good for utility cuts like cutting papers or opening boxes. Basically, it's a nice shape for any EDC task of a knife needs to do.
