Blade Material 154CM

The blade of this Begleiter 2 is made of 154CM material. 154CM Steel Blade delivers excellent edge retention, and corrosion resistance, and is suitable for heavy cutting applications. We have designed anti-skid gears on the upper edge of the knife for higher safety.

Micarta Handle

This Begleiter 2 has a grey Micarta handle. Micarta has a soft feel in the hand and possesses an aggressive grippiness.

Unique features

Better Than Expected!

I crossed paths with this knife while on the search for a new button lock flipper (yes, I have a type) to add to my carry rotation. I have a couple of Kizer blades (Smolt, Sheepdog) already so my confidence in receiving a quality product was very high and the Begleiter XL did not disappoint.

Appearance - The fit and finish of the knife is excellent. I love the feel of the Micarta scales, and enjoy the patina that develops over time. Despite its size, the knife appears very non-threatening. A bonus for users that are not trying to scare their friends or coworkers.

Action - No play in the blade pivot, silky smooth bearings, high fidget factor, and a solid deployment "thunk" when the lock engages are all signs of a quality tool.

Size - Full disclosure, I'm a sucker for a larger form factor knife for my EDC, so the "XL" designation was actually something that attracted me to this model. I have what I would consider to be a medium/large size hand (I use a L size work glove) and get a complete four-finger grip on the handle. The handle/blade size ratio feels appropriate and functional for all of my daily cutting tasks like cutting up boxes, slicing up lunch, and whittling sticks. Despite being "XL" it is barely noticeable throughout the day in my pocket.

All of this to say, this knife rocks! Its been in pocket daily since I've received it. If you prefer a smaller form factor for EDC, this version of the Begleiter may not be what your looking for. But then again, it might just surprise you if you take the chance.

Big and Beautiful Fidget Monster!

I have large hands and have the begleiter and the original button lock which are both great knives but I wanted something with some size to EDC at work and this thing is awesome! Very sharp out of the box, the scales look great, the stone wash is nice and the action is smooth! If it's on Sale buy it twice!
